South Dakota State Meet will be Fri & Sat, March 9-10.
Bench on Friday night and full meet on Saturday.

Andrew Montoya competed at the WY State Powerlifting meet September 9, 2011. Not only did Andrew break a SD State Teen (14-15) Squat record, but his total of 477.5 kg/1052.7 lbs is also a National Contest Qualifying Total for Men Teen I for the 90 kg/198 lb through 125 kg/ 275 lb weight classes!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to both Jona Leo and Diann
Nelson! Both competed at the 2011 USAPL National Bench Press Championships in Orlando Florida and BOTH broke current SD STATE RECORDS! Jona had a bench press record of 694 lbs/315 kgs in the Mens Open and Diann pressed 192.7lbs/87.5kgs in the both the Women's Open and Womens Master diviions.
We lost a great man August 31, 2011, Harlan Payne. He participated in many powerlifting meets
and was a referee at the last 2 or 3 state meets in Sioux Falls.
Here is his obituary.

and great lifter, he will be missed."
Mark Winquist passed away May 28, 2011.
ATTENTION! SD lifters who have set
records at out-of-state meets!
 Our by-laws (as stated on the new records application form) require
that lifters setting records out of state MUST have the lift
or lifts be witnessed by and application forms signed by three
(3) certified USAPL judges and the Meet Director. Records set at
USAPL National contests will be accepted automatically. |
South Dakota Represented at Midwest Senior States!
John Lenz (Kimball, SD), Greg & Tyler Wagner
and Ryan Tellberg went to Freemont, NE for the Midwest Senior States
Powerlifting competion on Dec 4th. Greg was awarded Best Meet Lifter
and John got first in his division
for Benchpress
only!!

Todd Craig is now a national champion!
Todd
went to Denver for the 2010 USAPL Deadlift & Push Pull Nationals on
10/16/10 and he got first in masters for both w/ a 341 bench and
561 deadlift….took
second in the open 198 wt class. Event was held at the Rocky Mountain
Lifting Club in Aurora,
Co.

Congratulations to DIANN NELSON!
Diann Nelson of
Sioux
Falls, won the IPF Women's Master's Bench Press World Championships
in Lake Taupo, New
Zealand, on April 15, 2009. Diann Bench pressed 178 lbs. in the
114 lb. class and M-3 Division.
Ms. Nelson also won the "Gold" at the USAPL National Bench
Press Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 12, 2009, with
a BP of 192.75 lbs. That lift was a new American Master's BP record
for her in the 114 lb. class and M-3 age group.
At the same contest,
Diann also won the Open division for her weight class. Nelson
has also been nominated for induction into the SD-USAPL "Hall-of-Fame" on
February 27, 2010 in Sioux Falls.
Congratulations also to AAU-SD and USAPL-SD "Hall
of Famer" LARRY
ROBINSON!
Larry Robinson
of Pierre, SD won his first USAPL Men's National
Master's Championship in Saint Louis, MO, on May 1, 2009. Robinson
lifted in the 198 lb. class & M-4 Division. |

Wins Silver at Worlds
Diann Nelson of Sioux Falls won the silver medal at the Master Bench
Press Championships in Slovakia April 17, 2008. She lifted 154.25lbs.
in the 114lbs. weight class.
March 22, 2008: Howards in Hall of Fame
With a unanimous vote by the attending members of the USAPL-SD members attending
the Business Meeting of the USAPL-SD State Powerlifting Championships on Friday
evening, March 22, 2008, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, STEVE & BRENDA HOWARD
of Rapid City were inducted into the USAPL-SD "Hall of Fame"!
Steve and Brenda were nominated by a majority of the USAPL-SD Nominations Committee.
They are the first-ever inductees in the USAPL-SD "Hall"!! Congratulations
to Steve and Brenda!! |

Champ and sets record
Diann Nelson of Sioux Falls won the National Bench Press Championships in Denver,
CO on Nov. 18, 2007. She lifted 154.25lbs (70kg) raw. She set a National record
in her division.
Wagner 3rd at Nationals
Greg Wagner - 275lbs. class from Webster SD - 942.5kg (2077.75lbs.) total at
Powerlifting Nationals in Miami, Florida
- Squat - 821lbs.
- Bench Press - 584lbs.
- Deadlift - 672.25lbs.
